This refers to the component of the oil seal that makes contact with the shaft.
It is wedge-shaped to be pressed against the shaft surface and makes contact with the shaft to ensure sufficient sealing performance and suitability for operation at high peripheral speed. - The FF 10 spark plug is designed to provide enhanced performance and reliability for a wide range of vehicles, from cars and trucks to motorcycles and ATVs. With its advanced technology and precision engineering, this spark plug delivers a powerful spark that ignites the air and fuel mixture in your engine, ensuring optimal combustion and maximum power output.
How are they used?
Bauerle and Bruhnke7 found that aeration reduces the effect of oil additives on fluoroelastomer properties. Some of their data is reproduced in Fig. 14.4,5 showing the effect of aeration of an SF-grade 5W30 oil on the retention of elongation of a VDF/HFP copolymer (FKM-E430), a VDF/HFP/TFE terpolymer (FKM-B600), and a VDF/PMVE/TFE fluoroelastomer (FKM-GFLT). The HFP-containing polymers show much better retention of properties with aeration.

Our standard and custom rubber oil seals can match the increasingly demanding applications of any industry.
As an example, this oil seal has a part number that corresponds to a Shaft Size of 3”, a Bore Size of 4”, a Width Size of 0.625”, a Style of TB2, and is made of Viton material. Conversely, the same size oil seal in Metric has a Shaft Size of 76.20 mm, a Bore Size of 101.60 mm, and a Width Size of 15.88 mm.
1. What are oil seals?

Over time, piston oil seals may wear out or become damaged due to normal wear and tear, extreme temperatures, or poor maintenance practices. When this happens, oil leakage can occur, leading to decreased engine performance and potential damage to the engine.

The basic principle of an oil seal is fairly straightforward. It is installed adjacent to the bearing, with the flexible lip against the rotating shaft and the casing pressed into the housing to hold the seal in place. It’s important that the sealing lip is lubricated to prevent it from overheating as a result of any generated friction. It’s also crucial to understand which type of seal is appropriate for your particular machinery. Before selecting your seal, consider the environment, temperature, pressure and shaft speed of your machine, as well as the type of medium the seal will come into contact with during operation. These considerations will all determine the size, colour, and type of lip material or sealing element to choose, and whether it can be sealed in or sealed out.
The other way oil seals work is by stopping outboard materials that can damage the machine or contaminate its lubricant. The outboard materials that the oil seal will need to stop depend on the application. However, the most common kinds are dirt, moisture, and the particles produced during manufacturing.

INTRODUCTION TO OIL SEALS AND HOW THEY ARE USED
Oil seals come in a vast range of materials and compounds. Even older materials, such leather, are still used today. Nitrile is among the most common materials for oil seals but is slowly losing ground to PTFE, which is gaining popularity due to its effectiveness in high-speed applications.
