NBR is recommended for the majority of standard applications and is the most commonly used rubber (elastomer) material. Generally nitrile is used for disposable non-latex gloves, footwear, automotive transmission belts, synthetic leather, hoses, o-rings, gaskets, oil seals, and more.
In situations where the shaft has splines or an integral gear on the end, you’ll want to take precautions. You may use an installation sleeve that will allow the seal to slide past these hazards undamaged.
